Workshops
At Conscious Culture Psychology Clinic group therapy is designed to meet our patient community needs. CCPC group therapy focuses on skill based groups and integrating holistic paradigms of health through psycho-education and alternative health practices via experiential exercises. While the groups are tailored to our community’s needs, we welcome newcomers because we believe in the power of community as an integral part of healing.
Group therapy involves one or more psychologists who lead a group of at least three or more participants. CCPC groups are typically small with 3-5 participants. Some participants attend individual therapy in addition to group, while others attend only group. You can talk with your psychologist to decide what treatment plan would work best for you. Typically groups meet for 90 minutes. Groups are generally designed to target a specific problem, issue, or skill. Group therapy at CCPC refers to skill-based groups. Mindfulness is a general skill that is introduced to our CCPC community.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness means paying attention, in a particular way, on purpose, and non-judgmentally as defined by Jon Kabat-Zinn. Mindfulness is a cognitive skill that can help increase consciousness. Increased consciousness is the therapeutic goal for CCPC because consciousness is necessary to modulate change. A desire for change is the number one motivator for seeking therapy. * Insurance plans usually cover group therapy. Group therapy is a more affordable way to obtain therapy when compared to individual therapy.
